How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Many people value the convenience of utilizing a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket offer much more piece of mind than trying to carry out a similar job utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best choice for completing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machine has to be positioned near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated in the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, models that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could likely take place.
