Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries during the year 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to lower and raise the hoist. This device greatly impressed clients and thus, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, since the need for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new equipment to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. Like for instance, Genie went into manufacturing stick booms, telehandlers, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Because of the economic slump in the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Due to the Genie name and its solid reputation in the workplace, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the initial few years following the sale. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
The DC and Bi-Energy machinery offered by Genie provide quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work settings. Where the machinery must be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machinery along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
As opposed to any of the different kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach overall. These equipment are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These equipment deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
