What is the Difference between Pneumatic Tire and Cushion Tire?

Knowing the difference between cushion tire forklifts and pneumatic tire forklifts is one of the most popular questions about this type of machine. Each type of tire is particularly suited for different requirements.

Pneumatic Tires have air inside of them, similar to tires on a vehicle. These tires are suitable for indoor application but they are most useful in outdoor "yard" applications and on gravel and uneven surfaces.

Used mainly for indoor applications, the cushion tires are made just like a solid industrial tire. The tire will just be useful outdoors on asphalt surfaces. If you do drive cushion tires outside, there is an option to get traction tires on the front of the equipment. These are referred to as the drive tires. The steer tires or the back tires are specifically made for steering. Traction tires located on the forklift's back would just wear out faster. Hence, if you do have to work outside, having the smooth tires on the rear and traction on the front will be the safest and most economical way to operate.

What is the difference between Solid Pneumatic and Air Pneumatic tires?

It can be fairly tricky when trying to know the main distinction between the two kinds of tires. They would work well in both in asphalt and gravel conditions. The main difference between the two types of tires is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means they are strong and you cannot puncture, pop or gouge them. These types of tires are more costly than air pneumatic tires as they are made up of way more rubber. These tires are best suited for locations like scrap yards and lumber yards where there may be plenty of debris or sharp objects on the ground.

The pneumatic tire could be punctured accidentally. You could get flat tires from them when this happens. Before using a forklift with air pneumatic tires, be sure that the yard is free of debris, sharp metals and nails and by inspecting your work area. In most applications, standard air pneumatic tires work really great.
