Kinds of Aisles
Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are classed due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. These equipments could turn in an aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are some aisle widths to consider with different models.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks can operate in less than 6 feet places, whilst several would use specific guidance systems like optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some various models of VNA trucks include Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are common models in tight retail spaces and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks are able to work within aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Generally these are stand-up models such as Reach Trucks. They are commonly used within warehouses and storage facilities.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units provide padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are made to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is large and has an 8" low step height which helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent entry and exit. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat as well as a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and therefore more productive while limiting fatigue.
