Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
About 200 deaths each and every year are caused by accidents involving lift trucks, or forklifts. Correct maintenance and inspection of forklift tires can help to reduce the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Check
The tires on the lift truck should be inspected at the beginning of every shift, checked for indications of damage and wear. The air pressure inside the tires should be inspected to ensure the pressure is not very low. Low tire pressure could make the machine prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Kinds of Tires
The tire type of the lift truck would be based upon the kind of floor surface which the lift truck would operate on. Solid rubber tires are great for indoor use. For surfaces which are smooth, tires tend to be smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are best for lift trucks being utilized outdoors. Pneumatic tires could grip well on surfaces that are rough since they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other Considerations
Based on Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines, all lift trucks require some periodic and some continual daily inspection that is carried out each shift. The tires must be checked once more for any sign of damage, like for example cuts or wear.

Forklift Safety
Forklift safety is essential for any employer or employee using a lift truck as lift truck accidents could be serious leading to personal injuries and even death. Even minor accidents can cost you and your business money if the lift truck or the merchandise are damaged in a mishap. Be certain you are well informed regarding problems involved in lift truck safety.
